WAVELAND – William Alonzo Bratton of Waveland died Friday evening in Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. Mr. Bratton, 88, had been in failing health since 1962. He lived here at 403 W. Main St. He farmed extensively in Montgomery and Putnam counties before ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church. Born on Sept. 7, 1881, in Putnam County near Roachdale, he was the son of Caleb and Emma Moler Bratton. His first wife, Roxie Taylor Bratton preceded him in death. He was married to Fern Brown in Crawfordsville on Feb. 23, 1920. Survivors include the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Joan) McClure, and two grandchildren, Sharon and Terry McClure, all of Waveland; a brother, Carl Bratton of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Campbell of Indianapolis, and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland with Rev. Herbert Swearingen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lebanon.
